Action Areas

Our 4 Action Areas
These 4 Action Areas are the focus for BPW UK's lobbying activity during 2013-14. They also dovetail well with existing programmes being run by our colleague organisations within 6-O.

Equal Pay

The Guardian said in March 2013: "Women in the UK have lower job security and greater pay inequality than those in other developed countries" - did you know the UK is 18th in the OECD out of 27 members? That puts us just outside the bottom third, people...

The TUC says "Women in their 50s earn nearly a fifth less than men of the same age - the widest gender pay gap of any age group"

Want to do something about it?

Women in Public Life

recent report by Counting Women In says: "women make up only 22.5% of MPs; 12.3% of council leaders (in England); and 17.4% of the cabinet. Only a third of public appointments are female, as are 15.6% of high court judges and 5% of editors of national daily newspapers".

Women aren't represented fully in public life, so the decisions affecting us don't fully reflect our needs. But we fully intend to get there, with your help.
