You are welcome to join our regular Zoom meetings where we meet regularly to discuss current issues or just enjoy each other’s company.
BPW Northern Ireland is an active, vibrant club with members from all across the six counties. We meet regularly to discuss current issues or just enjoy each other’s company. Our members have a wide range of experience and skills, coming from the public, private and voluntary sectors and have lots to say on current affairs.
We have a number of regular events each year, but our passion is Public Speaking. We host a competition each year in the Autumn for pupils from our local schools which is always well supported. We believe the skills young people gain from their experience in our Public Speaking Competition holds them in good stead in both their private and professional lives as adults.
BPW Northern Ireland also has an association with the Martha McMenamin Memorial Scholarship. Martha was a member of BPW and her memorial scholarship provides a donation to people studying in Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting, to undertake a study in their sector. Many years ago, BPW, with the Ulster University, established a Travelling Scholarship Award. The scholarship provides a female student of the University with the opportunity to travel outside Northern Ireland to extend her experience and enrich her personal and academic skills.
We always welcome new members and if you would like to join us please get in touch.
Committed to everyone pledging to do their part and make changes in support of a cleaner and greener planet, this group meets regularly by zoom and in person.
For the BPW UK monthly talks, inspirational speakers have included the owner of zero waste shops, the work of the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, including regreening projects, and Sustrans, the cycling organisation. This year we are liaising with farmers and businesses in rural areas, and large food companies.
We are also active members of the BPW Europe Green and Sustainable Group and subscribe to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). World Earth Day is an annual event which takes place on 22 April and we are already planning for 2024.
Do join us and add your energy and ideas on what you feel passionate about.
Throughout the year we cover a range of topics in our Zoom meetings, from national legislation in the Scottish Parliament, changes in UK law, relevant topics in BPW UK and new initiatives, articles from the e-news and how history can determine the present.
The area covers across the South West and Southern area of England from Cornwall to past Reading and into the Southern part of Wales. Being so widespread a geographical area, we use Zoom twice monthly to keep in touch with each other and discuss current issues. These are held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month. For members in closer proximity to each other we have ad hoc gatherings at various venues which are open to everyone.
SEW representatives enjoy making a contribution in various Working Groups in BPW UK, particularly Marketing & Media and Membership. We are always actively looking at ways to welcome and recruit new members.
Some SEW members give interesting talks, from the joys of driving classic cars to enlightening us on how Covid mutates! Our Past BPW International President, Sylvia Perry, shared some tales of the lighter side of BPW membership, locally, nationally and internationally and most importantly, as well as addressing the serious issues that have affected women over the decades, it was great to hear of the fun and lasting friendships we all can make by being a member.
We are very concerned about Violence against Women and all the dreadful headlines during this last year and were delighted when our ‘Make Misogyny a Hate Crime’ motion was passed at our National Conference by our members. Together we can make a difference.
We would love you to join us!
